Job description

Role Overview: This pivotal role is designed for a seasoned tax professional to lead and manage the end-to-end direct and indirect taxation framework for our operations in India, based out of Pune. The incumbent will be instrumental in ensuring meticulous compliance with all tax regulations, optimizing tax liabilities, and proactively mitigating risks. This involves daily oversight of tax computations, filings, and assessments, working closely with internal finance teams, external auditors, and regulatory authorities. The impact of this role is significant, directly contributing to the company's financial health, regulatory adherence, and strategic decision‑making by providing expert tax insights and ensuring a robust tax governance structure. Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage all aspects of Goods and Services Tax (GST) compliance, including timely and accurate filing of returns, reconciliation, and responding to notices, to ensure adherence to statutory requirements and minimize penalties. Oversee direct tax compliance, including corporate tax computations, advance tax planning, TDS management, and filing of income tax returns, to ensure accurate reporting and optimize tax outflow. Conduct and coordinate tax audits (GST and Income Tax) by liaising with internal teams and external auditors, providing necessary documentation and clarifications, to ensure smooth audit processes and favourable outcomes. Provide expert advisory on complex direct and indirect tax matters, including business transactions, new projects, and policy changes, to support strategic business decisions and ensure tax efficiency. Develop and implement robust internal controls and processes for tax compliance, identifying areas for improvement and automation, to enhance efficiency and reduce compliance risk. Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations, assessing their impact on the business, and proactively communicating implications to relevant stakeholders, to ensure continuous adaptation and compliance. Required SkillsetA Chartered Accountant (CA) with a strong experience in taxation in a manufacturing company of repute. Demonstrated expertise in Indian direct and indirect tax laws, including comprehensive knowledge of GST, Income Tax Act, and related regulations. Proven ability to manage complex tax compliance cycles, including return filing, assessment proceedings, and audit management. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to interpret intricate tax legislation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively collaborating with cross‑functional teams, external consultants, and regulatory bodies.
