Role SummaryThe Direct Tax Manager would be responsible for all Direct Tax Matters including compliances, transfer pricing, accounting of direct taxes, audits, statutory assessments, planning, restructuring, transaction analysis, international transactions, due diligence, etc.
The Direct Tax Manager will work with businesses, cross‑functional teams within and outside Finance and other tax professionals/service providers in carrying out his/her responsibilities.
ResponsibilitiesMonitor legislative changes in tax laws that may impact the company’s tax positions, including tax accounting implications.
Monitor adherence to company’s policies and build robust tax documentation/SOPs.
Monitor the company’s international transactions and transfer pricing policies and related documentation.
Act as the key facilitator for tax & risk management and leverage tax opportunities.
Advise management on tax optimisation measures, identify gaps in processes and mitigation thereof.
Statutory & Accounting CompliancesLead all statutory compliances for the company with regard to Direct Tax Laws & Rules including filings, audits, assessments, certifications, etc.
Lead all tax audit and transfer pricing audit activities.
Compile all relevant information for applicable audits and liaise with auditors as required.
Manage litigations at various fora and liaise with service providers at all levels.
Responsible for accounting of corporate/deferred taxes as per applicable GAAP requirements.
Own all general ledger entries in ERP related to direct taxes.
Cross‑Functional Coordination & ContributionCommunicate extensively with key stakeholders across business functions (Accounting, Legal, Treasury, Supply Chain, Sourcing, Sales, etc.).
Guide other functions by researching and interpreting tax laws and their application on operational matters.
Share best practices across functions to achieve organisational objectives.
Conduct knowledge sessions within Finance and cross‑functional teams.
Role Specific CompetenciesExcellent knowledge of direct tax laws and concepts applicable to domestic and international transactions.
Lead all tax filings, handle and advise on direct tax litigations.
Experience in financial reporting/disclosure pertaining to direct taxes.
Provide guidance/advice to teams on direct tax matters.
